 Sanibel Historical Museum and Village
Visit the Sanibel Historical Museum & Village to learn about the rich local history of Sanibel, Florida! Established as a non-profit organization in 2007, visitors can tour 10 preserved historical buildings ranging from 1896-1927. The Burnap Cottage, established in 1898, is reported to be haunted with a ghost! A museum store exists in one of the featured buildings called the Rutland House, that was built in 1913.

The museum store features apparel, books on Floridian history, fine art from local artisans, food, jewelry, toys, and other items that can be purchased. There are also art exhibits, quilt exhibits, and an annual gala. Visitors are always welcome and can become members and volunteers.

Membership includes free admission to the village and discounts in the museum store. For groups under 6 people who wish to self-tour, there are scripts and sound available for narration. Visitors can also schedule a guided tour for groups of 6 -10 people with staff.
